Fencing equipment and intensity
Thrusting was an important and integral part of Western fencing since the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Modern fencing is more of an offshoot of 17th and 18th Century small sword fencing than that of the rapier. Some people prefer schlager fencing equipment and schlager impersonators over modern fencing blades for different reasons. You can’t tell from looking at a blade how long it will last, but you can pick out a blade that has the weight, balance, and flex that you prefer. Fencing’s intensity and demands for physical and mental agility are a natural result of fencing’s violent history.
