The Development of Remotes for Garage Doors

Garage doors’ remotes have changed over time. The first-ever garage door remote was just a simple radio transmitter and receiver with only one frequency. This was a potential security risk as criminals can easily open garage doors. The next generation of the garage door remotes was operated on a single frequency preselected by the owner through switches on the remote and the machine. This was also a security risk as looters can intercept the signal and duplicate it, therefore allowing them to open the garage doors in Birmingham. The newest technology for garage door remotes now operates on a range of different frequencies and relies on rolling code technology. These new remotes change frequencies often and randomly so that potential thieves would not be able to clone the signal.
