Originating from China, the gong is a percussion sonorous instrument made in the form of a broad thin disk with a deep rim. Since its inception, it has spread to Southeast Asia as a type of flat bell and across the globe today. Gongs vary in diameter from about 20 to 40 inches, and they are made of bronze containing parts of tin and copper; but in many cases the proportion of tin is considerably less. The gong is beaten with a round, hard, leather-covered pad that is fitted on a short stick or handle. Once hit, it emits a peculiarly sonorous sound–its complex vibrations bursting into a wave-like succession of tones, even deep shrills. In China, Japan and other Asian nations known to use it, the gong is used in religious ceremonies, state processions, marriages and other festivals. You can actually modify its tone by particularly striking the disk in various ways.

One of the most popular attractions in the Burlington, Vermont area is the Shelburne Museum. This incredible Museum features historic buildings and other structures, beautiful gardens and an incredible array of artwork and artifacts. The historic buildings and structures at the Shelburne Museum house artifacts and artwork related to their function and period. Many of the buildings date to the 18th and 19th century, and several feature on site demonstrations. Impressionist paintings, folk art, Native American artifacts, tools, textiles, quilts, furniture and decorative arts are just some of the types of items featured in the Museum’s many exhibits. 

I just got home from a little trip out and while I was out I treated myself to a new tattoo. I am really pleased with it as it is such a great design and I don’t think my friends will ever find anything quite like it.

The other day I was looking around the internet and came across a great website about tattoo designs and after reading their articles I got access to a membership where I can view thousands of tattoo designs online. I couldn’t believe how many there were and they are all quality designs that you simply print out and take to your tattoo shop. I did that and I am delighted with my new tattoo.

Some people say that only brave people get permanent tattoos. Well, I know it takes guts to get under the needle and only the brave ones go through it. But, lets be fair now. We cant just say that everyone who gets a permanent tattoo is brave and everyone who doesn’t have a permanent tattoo is a coward. This is a very sweeping generalized statement and could hurt some people.Some people dont get permanent tattoos, because they know they would get easily bored with it. Lots of new tattoo designs are coming up everyday and its really tough to decide on one and then stay with it for the rest of our lives.Some people say that as soon as they decide on a tattoo that they want, they start seeing lots of other tattoo designs which are even better and the temptation becomes too much. This is when they decide to go for temporary tattoo designs as it allows them to have as many various types of tattoos as they want and also gives them the ability to remove it in a jiffy.So,maybe I should say that the smart ones get temporary tattoos although even this is a generalized statement which may hurt some people.

I’m sure you’ll come across some websites that you find frustrating. I certainly did. It’s not that I object to paying necessarily, but I do object to being led along like that. If they’re limited in any way it’s that those I’ve found can really only deal with the French language at the beginner level.

My friend called me. He was so excited. He had just won a bunch of free guitar licks from the local music store. I wish I had known about the free guitar licks drawing. I haven’t nedded guitar strings in a while, so I haven’t been to the music store. No purchase was necessary to enter, so I wouldn’t have had to buy anything. I could have just stopped in and registered. I heard they are going to have a drawing every month, so I’ll register for the next one. I’m glad my friend won.

Some of the best Iowa tourism attractions are not big fancy things to see, but are more simple, as simple as a day at the beach. There is nothing a teen age boy would like to do on a hot summer day than jump in the car and head out to the lake. Take a couple of buddies and go play in the water. Most small lakes have a beach although few have lifeguards, so much the better for impressing the girls. Just throw on a pair of shorts and hit the water for a little horse play. Show off your muscles as you walk around talking to the girls.

For my next Iowa vacation I think I am going to try one of those game preserves they have. The ones where you have a guide lead you out into the field and the place has the animals or birds stocked. I just think it would be great to be out with a bunch of my friends on a hunt and know that everyone of us is going to bring something back. Those places don’t have the same rules as the average hunter either. There is no limit on how much game you get other than the amount of money you are willing to spend.

Iowa vacations have a special place in my heart as I grew up in Iowa and have many fond memories of the trips we took. We did our share of vacations in Minnesota also, but there was just something special about seeing sights in your own state. You just know what  the people are going  to be like because they are the same as your neighbors. There is also the fact that you always have something in common with another Iowan. As long as you can spit and tell stories you can find common ground and things to talk about with any other Iowan.
