Understanding Metabolism And Appetite: Factors To Consider In Natural Weight Loss

In order for our bodies to function well metabolically, we must support them through overall, good nutrition. Simple sugars are nobody’s friend. The concept of a calorie being a calorie is oversimplified and nonsense. Empty calories may provide energy, but they do not provide the necessary nutrition needed to maintain a healthy body, nor do they help in achieving natural weight loss.
Our bodies are created in such a way as to maintain a certain weight. This maintenance is known as a “set point” which is a predetermined body fat ratio within a 10-15 lb weight range. If we threaten this set point by depriving ourselves of proper intake, our bodies feel threatened and as a result, will conserve fat and burn glycogen stored in the liver. This results in a yo-yo effect, so often spoken about by people who have tried to lose weight and keep it off.
