I had one guy tell me about his bouts with drugs and alcohol. He said that his girlfriend, who he loved very much, had left him because of it and that sent him spiraling downwards. Just when he was about to do something awful to himself he found the guitar. He bought self teaching books and decided to write his own songs. It helped him vent his anger towards his life through the guitar. He has been sober for three years because of it. That is a great story. While we talked about the guitar forums, I could see him dying to tell that story.
